Random Groupings of Words

So today I got to interview Jesse Eisenberg on an internet radio show that I do. It was actually an oddly surreal thing to interview a celebrity. And I mean a real celebrity, not just some dude who used to be the drummer for P/I/L in the 70s and tours around pimping music t-shirts that say the f-word on them trying desperately to stay relevant.

It was a surreal experience. I was genuinely nervous. I co-host the radio show from my living room, which is kinda ghetto and weird at the same time. My other two co-hosts are in their living rooms in other states/timezones. When the show was over, I was noticeably sweating. And I have no idea why.

So Jesse Eisenberg was a genuinely gracious and charming guy. I can see why his fans are rabid. And man are they rabid! There had been several posts that I’ve seen personally (meaning there are probably several others) slamming us, our radio show, etc, for our treatment of Jesse. And we were really nice and we’re pretty sure Jesse had a great time!

The interview was focused on the website he co-created with his cousin, OneUpMe.com. Jesse admits he is impressed with how the site has grown and how the community has evolved. He credits his cousin Eric Fisher with the procurement, nurturing, and capabilities of the site. Eric is no slouch. At 26, he has already worked as a designer at Apple, Google, and Facebook, all in the Silicon Valley. In addition he is solely responsible for all the functionality of http://oneupme.com as well as several other web resources.

It does seem like Jesse ever expected OneUpMe to take the turn it has, and being a technophobe, doesn’t realize how it all happened. He answered all our questions and expounded on all the topics that we asked so that the answers weren’t just “yeah” or “not really” and made for good radio. He has done this before and his professionalism showed.

Anyway, Jesse gave us a fun-filled solid 30 minutes before he had to go. The show continued afterward, and there were several questions that our listeners wanted us to ask, but we simply didn’t have time. Also, some of the questions were less than optimal for us to actually ask Jesse during our one interview with him. Therefore, we lined up a friend of the show to be on the air following Jesse’s time and asked the questions to him instead. He surprised us by doing a Jesse Eisenberg impression and we had a bit of fun as the show devolved into shenanigans from there.
